Ever the Hunted
by Erin Summerill

Publishing date: December 27th

synopsis via Goodreads:

Seventeen year-old Britta Flannery is at ease only in the woods with her dagger and bow. She spends her days tracking criminals alongside her father, the legendary bounty hunter for the King of Malam—that is, until her father is murdered. Now outcast and alone and having no rights to her father’s land or inheritance, she seeks refuge where she feels most safe: the Ever Woods. When Britta is caught poaching by the royal guard, instead of facing the noose she is offered a deal: her freedom in exchange for her father’s killer.

However, it’s not so simple.

The alleged killer is none other than Cohen McKay, her father’s former apprentice. The only friend she’s ever known. The boy she once loved who broke her heart. She must go on a dangerous quest in a world of warring kingdoms, mad kings, and dark magic to find the real killer. But Britta wields more power than she knows. And soon she will learn what has always made her different will make her a daunting and dangerous force.

HOW GORGEOUS IS THAT COVER?!?!

I love it so much, the white and gold with the arrow just captured my eyes and I love looking at it. For some reason I’ve really been loving the white and gold combo, and for some reason the cover is screaming Snow White to me and I don’t know why so don’t ask me to explain, I got nothing, I cant really explain it.

I really hope this is good, I’m hearing mixed stuff but I want this to be really good because this will probably be one of the books that I’ll be ending the year with and I want it to end with some great books.

I love the sound of this story and I think I’ll like it, but I’m ready and I want it.

What do you think of this one? Do you like the cover as much as I do? Clearly I have some enthusiasm.

What have you recently finished reading?

So I didnt much reading over my 4 day weekend 😦 but its because I didnt feel like reading fantasy. I realized too late that I was wanting to read some contemporary books and once I picked up one, I flew through it!

I read A Love Letter to Whiskey and by the end of it, I was so emotionally exhausted. It was like watching 9 months of soap operas crammed into 300 pages. Don’t get me wrong I did like it, I gave it 4 stars out of 5, but there was so much unnecessary drama.

Then I picked up This Girl and I was pretty bored reading it, thb. It’s just Will telling Lakeyn the events of Slammed as his memories and his side of things. I didn’t like Slammed and I don’t care for Lakeyn so it’s not shocking that I didn’t enjoy this.

I finally Just Listen on a whim and it was my first Sarah Dessen book, and I really enjoyed it. I couldn’t put it down and I didn’t want to put it down. Will definitely be reading more Sarah Dessen.

What are you currently reading?

Love and Gelato
by Jenna Evans Welch

So far I’m only two chapters in but I am really liking it.

What do you think you’ll read next?

This Lullaby
by Sarah Dessen

13 Reasons Why
by Jay Ashur

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
by Benjamin Alier Saenz

First and Then
by Emma Mills

I have heard great things about all of these and I am on a serious contemporary kick so I want to get to these asap.

There’s my reading plan for the week.

What are you reading this week?
Which book should I read next?

And my last bookish gift recommendation is to buy your favorite book lover a new book.

aad043f8b9bc8f3a9dafc6070dcfc5f4

I don’t think I can even explain how happy you would make that book lover if you asked them to tell you a few books that they want and then buy that book for them.

My whole life I have heard people say

“You have so many books I don’t want to get you another book because it wouldn’t be special”
No! You have no idea how much I will treasure the shit out that book, to make it even more special, you could write a sweet note on the inside of that book and I will love it until the end of my days.

I’ve also heard
“You have so many books I just don’t know which ones you do and don’t have,”

okay I have three points for this

-It’s the thought that counts. Even if you buy me a book that I already have, just buying the book lets me know that you support my hobby and my interests
-that’s what a gift receipt is for
-Why can’t you just ask if there is a book that I want??

So there you go that is my gift guide for the book lover in your life.

Crystal Storm
by Morgan Rhodes

Publishing date: December 13th

Synopsis via Goodreads:

An epic clash between gods and mortals threatens to tear Mytica apart . . . and prove that not even the purest of love stands a chance against the strongest of magic.

MAGNUS and CLEO are forced to test the strength of their love when Gaius returns to Mytica claiming he’s no longer the King of Blood but a changed man seeking redemption.

LUCIA, pregnant with the child of a Watcher, has escaped the clutches of the unhinged fire god. Her powers are dwindling as she goes forth to fulfill a prophecy that will keep her baby safe . . . but could mean her demise.

JONAS treks back to Mytica with a plan to overtake Amara, but fate takes hold when he runs into the beautiful Princess Lucia and joins her on her perilous journey.

AMARA has taken the Mytican throne, but with no way to unleash the water magic trapped within her stolen crystal, she’ll never be able to seize glory and get sweet revenge.

And what kind of darkness will descend–and who will be safe–after Prince Ashur reveals the dangerous price he paid to cheat death?

I am so nervous for this book!

I actually cant believe that this is going to be second to last book and I honestly don’t want it to end. I love these characters and this world, this story has captured a special place in my heart.

One day soon I really want to sit down and just marathon this entire series. I actually want to do that with a lot of my series. It would be great to do.

What do we think about the cover?

Honestly I’m kind of not a fan. Don’t hate me but I cant look at this cover without seeing this.

giphy (1).gif

That is all I can see and think about for that cover. Its a great cover but I just hear Deadpool saying “superhero landing!”

That thought just kind of distracts me from the cover because now all I can think about is Deadpool, not a bad thing but it took away my focus from the book. Its just that Deadpool said it in such an obviously mocking way that now I just feel like my brain is mocking the superhero landing.

What do you think of the cover? Have I planted the Deadpool comparison in your brain or was it already there? Please tell me I wasn’t the only person who thought that!

Side note: Bang Bang by Green Day has been stuck in my head for three days now, I don’t even know all the words yet so all I hear is just the chorus over and over. I firmly believe that I will lose my mind if this continues for a couple more days.

Fate of the Tearling
by Erika Johansen

Publishing date November 29th

synopsis via Goodreads:

The thrilling conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Tearling trilogy.

In less than a year, Kelsea Glynn has transformed from a gawky teenager into a powerful monarch. As she has come into her own as the Queen of the Tearling, the headstrong, visionary leader has also transformed her realm. In her quest to end corruption and restore justice, she has made many enemies—including the evil Red Queen, her fiercest rival, who has set her armies against the Tear.

To protect her people from a devastating invasion, Kelsea did the unthinkable—she gave herself and her magical sapphires to her enemy—and named the Mace, the trusted head of her personal guards, Regent in her place. But the Mace will not rest until he and his men rescue their sovereign, imprisoned in Mortmesne.

Now, as the suspenseful endgame begins, the fate of Queen Kelsea—and the Tearling itself—will finally be revealed.

I haven’t yet read the first books of this trilogy and here I am saying that I am anticipating the third book. I feel ridiculous.

But.

I’ve been holding off on reading the first two books until I got closer to the release date of book 3 so I can kind of marathon them.

This seems to be one of those books that you either love or hate but from reading the synopsis for The Queen of the Tearing it sounds like a book that’s going to appeal to me I have a good feeling about this book. Plus did you hear that Emma Watson is going to star in the movie adaption? Shes also going to be an executive producer for it so I am excited for it.
