TTT: Rainy Day Reads

ttt-new

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

April 16: Rainy Day Reads

When I started this list, I sat here for about 5 minutes thinking “what r books…” I had nothing. But as soon as I listed one it was like this dam broke and I had all these ideas immediately come to mind.

And this kind of brought up a question of, does anyone else ever feel weird to recommend older books? I constantly feel like I need to be recommending newer books, I also feel like I keep recommending the same books over and over, and if I’m over it I can only imagine how annoying it is on the other side of the screen.

Books I’ve Recommended to Others in My Life

I didn’t really have anything to write about today’s prompt. I can’t think of anything crazy I’ve ever done in the name of books. So because of that, I started scrolling through the prompt list and an idea to talk about books I’ve recommended to friends and family popped into my head. That’s what I went with.

Next Year In Havana
by Chanel Cleeton

I enjoyed this so much, the writing was beautiful and felt like I was reading a love letter to Cuba. The story was really interesting, especially when Marisol’s grandmother was telling her story. I want more now and I really want a Beatriz story.

The Hollow Crown
by Jeff Wheeler

I was actually really disappointed in this and I think it’s because I didn’t care for the main character the same way I cared about Owen. The book didn’t have any of Owens cleverness or any of the traits that made him so likable, but his daughter thought that she had those traits but they didn’t shine through.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone
by Laini Taylor

I’m so close to being done with this, I have less than a hundred pages and I know that I could just fly through the rest of this book like its nothing but I don’t want to finish it yet, even though I know there are two other and I’ve read the two other books.

What do you think you’ll read next?

A Breath of Snow and Ashes
by Diana Gabaldon

I have this for my next audiobook and I’m a little nervous and a little excited to start this, I just hope that the plot really picks up in this one.

April 2: Things That Make Me Pick Up a Book

I buy into hype so easily, it really doesn’t take much to talk me into adding a book to my TBR. That said, let’s take a look at things that jump out at me and grab my interest.
