Creating a TBR based on TV shows

Script Stationers Blog Banner

I’ve been binging on a lot of tv shows lately and sometimes when I consume a lot of a series, it really starts to consume the rest of my life. I always find myself looking for books that are similar to the show I’m enjoying. Today I decided to go with that notion and finally put together a list that I think coincides nicely with the shows.
Now I choose books that were already on my radar/wish list. I also know that in the case of Charmed and Buffy, there are adaptation books and I decided to disregard those simply because it seemed redundant.

Spellbook of the Lost and Found

My best friend and I have been marathoning Charmed together every Sunday and it turned Sundays into one of the best days of the week. We get together and bake up something delicious, lately, we’ve been on a scone kick, and we’ll watch a few episodes of Charmed, the 1990 version with Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano.

Spellbook for the Lost and Found popped up in several lists when I was googling for recommendations and since it was already on my wish list I choose this one.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer:
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms

I went with this instead of Slayer or any of the comic books, I choose this one because I heard there’s a redemption arc that fans of Spike and Angel would approve of.

Gilmore Girls
Someday, Someday Maybe

How could I not choose a book written by Loreli Gilmore herself, I’ve already read a Lauren Graham book and really enjoyed it, so I’m looking forward to reading another.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows

This one was hard to make a decision for, I couldn’t find a book that felt like it fully compared to what I like about the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel but I’ve also been having some luck with Reese Witherspoon’s book club picks and this is on that list too, so I get to kill two birds with one stone.

Downtown Abbey
The American Heiress

This is a book that’s been on my radar for a long time, I just love that cover it always catches my eye. This was one several book recommendation lists and I’m looking forward to reading it.

The Great British Baking Show
Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe

I choose this purely based on the cover and title and I hope that it lives up to my expectations. It also has recipes and I can’t deny that fact tipped the scales in its favor.

I’m really interested in these picks and I think this will be a neat experiment.

If you’ve done something similar or you think there’s a better book for any of these picks please let me know!
I hope to be able to update in a couple months about what I think of these and how they correspond with the shows.

Thank you so much for reading! - Cassidy
