WWW Wednesday 11/23

Side note: Bang Bang by Green Day has been stuck in my head for three days now, I don’t even know all the words yet so all I hear is just the chorus over and over. I firmly believe that I will lose my mind if this continues for a couple more days.

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words. Simply answer the following questions:

What have you recently finished reading?

What are you currently reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What have you recently finished reading?

The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E Pearson

I ended up giving this book about 4.5 out of 5 stars. I took off a tiny point because my damn ship didn’t sail….ugh…
don’t you hate it when that happens?
so yeah my ship didn’t sail and while the book felt unnecessary long at points I also feel like important parts of the story were a little rushed.
It was still a great finale to a great trilogy, I loved everything else that happened and am satisfied overall.

What are you currently reading?

A Dance with Dragons by George RR Martin

I’ve finally made some progress on this book. To be honest, I’m kind of considering DNFing the book. Mostly because I feel like this is going to give me a massive book hangover and there’s still no publication date for Winds of Winter in sight, I’m slowly accepting the fact that there may never be a book 6 for the ASOIAF series.

Just having that thought in my head while reading this makes it so discouraging to read. It’s so depressing because this is one of my favorite series I’ve ever read, I love this world and all these characters, but I’m also starting to feel like I only want to read it because of my 2016 reading goals and that’s definitely the wrong reason to be reading something.

Did I just talk myself into DNFing this book??? Where did my rambling lead me to???

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

This book is probably similar to ^ADWD^ because, again, there is no publication date for book 3 in sight. It’s a similar situation and I’m not sure if I want to take that on.

Something to think about I guess

Whoops, my WWW Wednesday took a turn on the depressing side.
Sorry, I didn’t mean for that to happen.

What are you reading this week?

  1. I know exactly how you feel about those last 2 series. It’s been so long now since I read all the books in ASOFAI (I marathoned them – they were just so addictive!), I’d need a major refresher before reading any new book (although I’m also starting to doubt Martin will ever publish one).

I read The Name of the Wind (very good), but won’t read book 2 until a publication date for book 3 is announced. I refuse to get any more attached to a group of characters only to be left hanging!!

Here’s my (rather long because it’s been ages since I last posted a WWW) WWW: https://clairehuston.wordpress.com/2016/11/23/www-wednesday-23rd-november-2016/
