No one likes to hear this word, whether it’s about a tv series, blog, or series of books. And that word is
…*cue the horror music*
Hiatus
I am so sad to say that I am going to be putting my blog on a short hiatus and honestly I should have done it a while ago. I’ve really been neglecting my blog for about a month now and I hate having to put it on hold.
I love my blog but I just have too much going on right now with work, school, blogging, and my personal life and it’s all too much for me to do right now. And between you and me I haven’t even been reading all that much and don’t have anything to post about anyways.
It really depresses me not to be reading that much and I think my required reading for school is putting me in a pretty big reading slump 😧
My spring semester is over in the first week of may so I will be back after that until my classes start back up in the fall.
Until then thank you for reading and I will miss you!
My reading goal for this month is to catch up or finish a couple series, So far I haven’t been doing too great on that so I am going to buckle down and get down to it. Another thing I want to do is downsize my unread graphic novels, I currently have about 30 unread novels and I want to go to the comic book store really badly so my goal is to get my un-reads down to about 8 or 10 (2 of my un-reads are Watchmen and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and those suckers are freaking huge! I am not emotionally ready to jump into those just yet) I read 7 of them over the weekend and I’m very happy with the progress so far

That ending was insane! Loved loved loved! I need book 3 right now!
Hawkeye Vol 1
Hawkeye Volume 1: My Life as a Weapon
I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I was going to and it made me like Hawkeye a lot more, don’t get me wrong I never disliked him or thought of him as meh, I was just somewhere between like and love and now I am on the Hawkeye train.
Green Arrow Year One
Green Arrow Year One
So Arrow is one of my favorite tv shows, I watch it religiously and I don’t want to talk about how many times that damn show has made me cry. That being said, I don’t know why it took me so long to pick this up, I’ve had it for a while and just haven’t gotten to it. I’m kicking myself now because it is one of my new favorites. I was glued to this the whole time I was reading it.
Lumberjanes Vol 1
Lumberjanes vol 1: Beware the Holy Kitten
This is another new favorite. I felt so bad for my bf while I was reading this. So Sunday morning I woke up a bit earlier than I usually do and I couldn’t get back to sleep at all. So I decided to read this. Not my best idea, my bf was still sleeping and I didn’t want to wake him up, but while I was reading I want to laugh so much and so hard and I was trying not to so I was doing that shaking laugh thing that you do when you try to laugh.
This comic was hilarious and adorable and I had to run out and buy volume 2 because I needed it in my life that badly!
Tomb Raider vol 3
Tomb Raider volume 3: Queen of Serpents
Tomb raider is one of my favorite video games and while I was playing it I had a lot of questions about some of the characters that were in the first video game, where were they? This comic was set to right before where the second video game took place. So my questions were answered. Sadly though I didn’t really care for this a whole lot, I’m glad I read it but I did not love it.
Ripley is my Spirit Animal
Lumberjanes vol 2: Friendship to the Max
Yeah…so…I went out and bought it. I needed it that badly. I loved it just as much as volume 1 and I was blindsided by all of the plot twists. My only issue with it is that I have a lot of questions that didn’t get answered. I’m hoping that there will be another volume bind up so that I can have some of my questions answered.
Suicide Squad volume 1: Kicked in the Teeth
This was kind of a wild ride, I really enjoyed the mix of villains and the craziness that you can expect from Harley Quinn, that story was a bit out there but thats kind of a theme with the New 52.
Harley Quinn: Preludes and Knock-Knock Jokes
While I definitely enjoyed this I did not love it, but I loved the artwork so much it reminded me so much of the animated series and how can you not love that.
What are you currently reading?
I’m still trying to catch up on some series so I plan on reading either
Splendor by Anna Godbersen
Love that dress!
or
Siren’s Fury by Mary Weber
That cover font is so beautiful!
What do you think you’ll read next?
Ten Thousand Skies Above You by Claudia Gray
I want to read this already!
So that’s it for this week, what are you currently reading?
Have you read the Lumberjanes comics? Who is your favorite character? I freaking love Ripley so much!
This week’s topic for Ten Top Tuesday is about the top 10 books on your spring tbr. I wasn’t really feeling it so I took a look through the list and saw a topic idea of bookish things that I would like to own that aren’t books. I really like that one. I spend too much on Etsy looking at bookish themed jewelry, mugs, and tote bags. These are some of my favorite bookish things I’ve found.
Book shaped plates
I want all of these so badly! When I finally have my own house and my own dining table I plan to have it set with these plates and platters. They used to have these adorable mug and saucer sets that I don’t see on the site anymore. These can be found at gonereading.com
Along with tote bags I also love mugs. I should do a post about all my mugs, but I love stoneware dishes and I love Outlander. So this is two great things in one.
Look at the epicness! I am a huge marvel nerd and I freaking love this so much! It is embarrassing to think about how long I would be playing with and pretending that I was Thanos…
Hello, it’s me, I was wondering if you would like to talk about some books today
HELLOOO FROM WASHINGTOOONNN
…Hello by Adele has been stuck in my head for like 3 days now.
and if it’s not Adele stuck in my head then its Enter the Sandman by Metallica, weird right?
So I am back from my trip to California, and I had a good time visiting my mom. The best part was when we went to this winery that had amazing wine, seriously I came home with 5 bottles of wine. A. Maz. Ing. Loved it.
So I didn’t do too much reading but I did a little bit so le’ts get into that

What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading The Winners Crime by Marie Rutkoski and I am really enjoying it! I can’t wait for the Winner’s Kiss to come out! If the ending for this one is anything like the ending for the first book then I am going to be needing book 3 instantly
What do you think you’ll read next?
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I was really bummed when I got home from the airport last night because I had received a confirmation that my book had been delivered that day. I searched all of the house looking for it only to go back and check the delivery confirmation and saw that it had been delivered to my work instead. Normally no big deal, my coworkers don’t care if I have something shipped there, but we are closed today. Bummer. I am so tempted to go over there and get it.
Oh well, I’ll get it tomorrow and until then I still have half of the Winners Crime to get through.
Finding Audrey
by Sophie Kinsella
hardcover
286 pages
my rating 4 out of 5 stars
Synopsis via Goodreads
An anxiety disorder disrupts fourteen-year-old Audrey’s daily life. She has been making slow but steady progress with Dr. Sarah, but when Audrey meets Linus, her brother’s gaming teammate, she is energized. She connects with him. Audrey can talk through her fears with Linus in a way she’s never been able to do with anyone before. As their friendship deepens and her recovery gains momentum, a sweet romantic connection develops, one that helps not just Audrey but also her entire family.
My Thoughts:
I picked this up for a couple different reasons: I was craving a contemporary read, I had heard that this was a kind of light-hearted and funny and I needed something along those lines, and I knew that the main character suffered from an anxiety problem that based off of the synopsis sounds similar to the anxiety that I have. So I needed to read this.
Side note: I love the name Audrey, Audrey Hepburn was one of my favorite actresses of all time, I love her movies, and she was such a beautiful person.
Back to the book
First, it was so sweet and funny, I loved the mom’s obsession with video games and computer nonsense, after a while though it became quite tedious that the issue was always going on in the background.
Audrey was an interesting character since her behavior largely revolved around pushing people away I found it hard to form an attachment to her, at the same time I felt myself develop a concern for her right away.
The book was very thought provoking, it showed how people with mental disorders are treated and how people react to them. “Just get over it” or “Snap out of it” or “Don’t be like that” For someone like Audrey who’s diagnosed with Social Anxiety, General Anxiety, and Depressive episodes it not as simple as snapping out of it. I really liked that this book showed that that’s not how it goes. I really enjoyed that Kinsella emphasized that it doesn’t happen like that.
I loved Audrey’s and Linus’ relationship, it was so great how he understood and accepted how she was, and how he found little ways to help ease her back into the world. Although the mere thoughts of her little challenges were enough to start giving me anxiety haha, only a little, though.
I was very satisfied with this ending, I thought everything wrapped up pretty nicely and overall I’m happy I read this book. I really want to explore more YA novels that feature mental disorders.
I would recommend this to anyone else who suffers from anxiety or if you have a friend that suffers from anxiety, and if you love cutesy romances. I would suggest giving this book a shot. It’ll give you an inside look at what anxiety does to someone. It shows you the thoughts anxiety will plant in your head.
This isn’t so much a WWW Wednesday but more like what I plan on reading this weekend and on my plane flight.
So this weekend I am flying down to California to go see my mom for a long weekend. I will be gone from Friday through late Tuesday, which is 5 days. I’m trying to decide which books I want to bring down with me, I’m debating between bringing all these books:
The Winner’s Curse
The Winners Crime
Kingdom of Ashes
Ice like Fire
Or, I could just bring down Dragonfly in Amber and travel with just the one book. My problem with that, however, is the unproductive feeling. I’ll probably make a dent in one book versus reading and completing 4 (hopefully). But at the same time, do I want to travel with (at least) 4 books?
It’s something to think about and I will probably decide after I’m done packing the rest of my stuff. I know my mom has a bunch of things planned for us to do for the 5 days I’m down there but I do a lot of reading in the morning and evenings and I feel like I can finish most if not all the first 4 options.
I cannot tell you how glorious it is to have another bookshelf and having to stop double and triple stacking everything.
Seriously it’s amazeballs.
I dedicated one bookshelf to all of my read books and the other one to all of my unread books. As I as sorting and arranging these it came to my attention that I have some series that I need to catch up on. So, I have decided to dedicate this month to catching up on all of my series.
So first up I really want to read The Winners Curse and The Winners Crime by Marie Rutkoski. Winners Kiss is to be released at the end of March and I really want to get to this trilogy.
Splendor
by Anna Godberson
I have read The Luxe, Rumors, and Envy, Splendor is the last book in that series.
Snakeroot
by Andrea Cremer
Last year I read the Nightshade trilogy but wasn’t sure about picking this one up, I don’t think the main characters from the previous three will be in it so I was unsure, but it might be time to give this a chance.
Kingdom of Ashes
by Rhiannon Thomas
I loved a Wicked Thing, Sleeping Beauty is my favorite fairy tale of all time and I am always down to read a retelling.
Siren’s Fury
Mary Weber
I’m intrigued to see how the rest of this series goes, I think the 3rd and final book was released today (March 1st) so I have some marathoning to do.
Ice Like Fire
by Sarah Raasch
Wow I think this is the 3rd TBR that this book has been on but I think I’m ready to get to this one now.
Ten Thousand Skies Above You
by Claudia Gray
Same as above…I will get to this!
Glass Sword
by Victoria Aveyard
I am determined to get to this if I don’t its just going to be this huge weight in the back of my mind.
So that’s my TBR for the month, hope all goes well.
February was an alright reading month for me, it wasn’t really spectacular or anything like that. Around the last week and half of February I started feeling like a reading slump was coming on.
^ Literally me in The Horrible Nightmarish Land of Reading Slumps
I’m not really sure what started my reading slump but I haven’t been able to shake it off yet.
Despite all that I did manage to get a decent size chunk of books read.
Cruel Crown by Victoria Aveyard
my rating: 3 out of 5 stars
This was alright, I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it. it was just alright. it was fun to get some of the characters backstories
Speak
by Laurie Halse Anderson
my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I enjoyed this a lot, there were a few points where I found it to be a bit slow but overall it was a great and thought provoking read.
Me Before You
by Jojo Moyes
my rating: 4 out of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this book, I ended up reading it in about 2 sittings and I never wanted it to end.
We Were Liars
by E. Lockhart
my rating: 3 out of 5 stars
While this was an enjoyable and very fast read I can’t help but feel like something was missing.
The Siren
by Keira Cass
my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
I loved this. I can’t think of any other way to put it other than that I simply loved this.
Stars Above
by Marissa Meyer
my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This left me feeling so satisfied, Winter didn’t quite leave off with an ending that I loved but these novellas filled in the blanks with the series, and the ending to this left me feeling so happy! Honestly, it was everything I wanted and more.
A Darker Shade of Magic
by V.E. Schwab
my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This was a reread for me and it was just as good as the first time I read it.
And now my favorite book of the month was
Outlander
by Diana Gabaldon
my rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Oh my, I loved this so freaking much! This was seriously me for most of the book
I am in love with this series!
So how did you do this month? What was your favorite book you read this month?
