NaNoWriMo

Omg NaNoWriMo starts in a few days!

I am not ready

I’m not emotionally ready and I wish I had gotten my sh*t together earlier so that I could be prepared with a more finished outline and a better feel for my characters, but I thrive under last minute cramming and preparation.

yay procrastination!

I am looking forward to this however, I plan on finishing a storyline that I’ve been working on and off for most of the year, but I don’t think I’ve worked on it since May or June. Which kind of feels not right to me since I have about 9000 words already so I feel like I’m cheating, maybe I’ll make it a goal to pile on 50,000 words on top of that! Yeah, I’ll probably do that.

Tonight I’m gonna buckle down and make some character questionnaires for my characters, use some note cards to give myself a visual outline of my story, you know things like that. That way tomorrow I can spend my day reading tomorrow and some last minutes preparations for NaNo.

I’ve also been watching NaNoWriMo preparation videos my favorites have been

Kat from Katytastic
and
Catriona from Little Book Owl

Just to get an idea of what to be prepared for.

Well, honestly aside from getting snacks and whatnot I think I’m about ready.
Wish me luck

NaNo! Here I come!

October Wrap Up

It has been such a long month! Some of my friends had been discussing how quickly the month went by and I do not agree.
I had an excellent month of reading, I burned through so much of my TBR and since I’m doing NaNoWriMo next month I tried to squeeze in as much reading as I could so that I would be able to focus on NaNo next month and not feel as guilty about not reading. I’ll still feel guilty, though.

Which means that my TBR for November is kinda up in the air for now, I have a pile of shorter books set to the side to give my mind a break from writing, I also have a couple bigger books set to the side with the (tentative) goal of reading one a week. But I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do for a TBR.

Let’s get straight into my wrap up

Another weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where you talk about upcoming releases that you’re really excited about

New WoW

I am super excited because I get to say this about the book I’m excited for….

ready…I’m ready…

Winter is coming!!!

41SSIYbE2LL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_

I get way too excited saying that.
Gah I love this cover, I feel like I’m the only one since I always hear people saying that they don’t care for it but I love the reoccurring red used in all the covers, the way she’s holding the apple screams power to me, like taking power or becoming powerful, Which means a lot for Winter and Cinder.

I am so excited to read Winter though, I binge marathoned Cinder, Scarlet, Cress and Fairest earlier this year and I’m really excited to see how this series wraps up.

Synopsis via Amazon

Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.

Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend–the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.

Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters? Fans will not want to miss this thrilling conclusion to Marissa Meyer’s national bestselling Lunar Chronicles series.

A Thousand Pieces of You mini review

A Thousand Pieces of You
by Claudia Gray
Hardcover
368 pages
published November 4th 2014
my rating 4 out 5 stars

Cloud Atlas meets Orphan Black in this epic dimension-bending trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray about a girl who must chase her father’s killer through multiple dimensions.

Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their groundbreaking achievements. Their most astonishing invention, called the Firebird, allows users to jump into multiple universes—and promises to revolutionize science forever. But then Marguerite’s father is murdered, and the killer—her parent’s handsome, enigmatic assistant Paul— escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite refuses to let the man who destroyed her family go free. So she races after Paul through different universes, always leaping into another version of herself. But she also meets alternate versions of the people she knows—including Paul, whose life entangles with hers in increasingly familiar ways. Before long she begins to question Paul’s guilt—as well as her own heart. And soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is far more sinister than she expected.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores an amazingly intricate multi-universe where fate is unavoidable, the truth elusive, and love the greatest mystery of all.

Ruin and Rising book review

Ruin and Rising
by Leigh Bardugo
Hardcover
417 pages
June 17th 2014

20151016_102319

Synopsis:

The capital has fallen. The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.

Now the nation’s fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.

Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.

Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova’s amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling’s secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction–and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for.

I enjoyed Ruin and Rising the most out of the whole trilogy, the whole series was enjoyable and not only would I recommend it but its one that I will definitely re-read.

October Book Haul

So many good books have been released this fall, I don’t even know where to begin! I still haven’t been able to get my hands on Rainbow Rowell’s new book Carry On or George R. R. Martin’s Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and don’t even get me started on how I don’t own the illustrated Harry Potter edition yet.

But regardless of all that I did purchase some new books that I am very excited about

20151021_191839

So let’s jump straight in

20151016_102302
Six of Crows
by Leigh Bardugo
I am so excited to pick this book up, I’m currently reading the Grisha trilogy and after that I still have a stack of books I’d like to get through before October is over so I’m not sure when I’m going to read this, but I hope it’s soon.
20151020_183218

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard book 1 The Sword of Summer
by Rick Riordan

I’m honestly more excited to read this than I am to finish Percy Jackson or to start the Heros of Olympus series. I love Norse mythology, plus you know, Thor and Loki. (Insert heart eyes here)

20151016_102238

Ice Like Fire
by Sarah Raasch
Yay! I really liked Snow like Ashes so I’m excited to read this…again not sure when its going to happen but I hope soon

20151016_102122

The Rose Society
by Marie Lu
Already devoured this and loved it!
Here’s a link to the post I made about it The Rose Society

20151020_183305

Black Widow Forever
by Margaret Stohl
Had to have it. Currently at the bottom of my to-be-read list but I had to have it

20151016_102248

The White Rose
by Amy Ewing
Again already read it since it was a pretty short book but I don’t plan on posting a review. I just don’t really have much to say about it, I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it, at the end I felt “meh” about it so I don’t see a point in reviewing it.

20151020_183203

Happily Ever After
by Keira Cass
I was so excited to hear that the Selection novellas were being published in a bind up and I had to have them.

20151020_123700

Illuminae
by Amie Kauffman and Jay Kristoff
I don’t have the words to describe how excited I was to receive this. There are no words. It’s a beautiful masterpiece!!

20151021_191750

Thats everything I purchased in October, I dont think I’m going to buying anything else this month, so yeah thats all I got

Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

I’m back with another tag! Thank you, Dee, from The Bookish Khaleesi for tagging me in this! I’m excited to do this one, but it was definitely one of the harder ones I’ve done.

A POPULAR BOOK OR SERIES THAT YOU DIDN’T LIKE

RubyRed 12637458119472bd331d0d038c9f01cadf3710c6

Ruby Red by Kristen Gier

I did not like this series at all and I read so many positive reviews from it, a couple booktubers I like blurbed positive things about it so I read the whole trilogy and hated it. I just couldn’t get into it, Gwen annoyed me the whole time and I just felt like there wasn’t much to the story, it focused too much on the romance and I wanted more time travel.

A POPULAR BOOK THAT EVERYONE HATES BUT YOU LOVE

7735333

Matched by Allie Conde

I really liked this book, as the trilogy went on my enthusiasm dwindled down, I would like to give it a reread sometime soon. I’ve seen quite negative reviews almost more than I’ve seen good ones, but I liked it.

A LOVE TRIANGLE WHERE YOUR SHIP DID NOT SAIl

91cvPamvpeL

I’m at a bit of a loss of who to say, most of my ships are pretty much canon, I think the only one I can say is Celeana and Chaol, BUT I haven’t read Queen of Shadows yet so I don’t know what happens so please don’t tell me

A POPULAR GENRE THAT YOU HARDLY REACH FOR

Horror. If I think a book is going to scare me, I will not read it.

A BELOVED CHARACTER YOU DIDN’T LIKE

8235570_f520

Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones. I cannot stand her, she just annoys the hell out of me!

A POPULAR AUTHOR YOU CAN’T GET INTO

Ransom Riggs
Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children was a DNF from me, I couldn’t get into it and I didn’t care how the book ended

A POPULAR BOOKS SERIES YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING

Anna-dressed-in-blood-cover

This is a hard one for me, there not much that I won’t read. But if I have to choose one I’m gonna go with Anna dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake

AN ADAPTATION YOU LIKE BETTER THAN THE BOOK

theperksofbeingawallflowere1349280062824

The Perks of being a Wallflower

Don’t get me wrong I liked the book but I love the movie

Who to tag?

I have no idea

I think I’m gonna go with my usual cop-out and say that if you want to do this, go for it! I tag you!

So let me know if you agree or disagree if any of my answers.
