WWW Wednesdays

Good morning and Happy Halloween!

I am so excited for today, I love Halloween and I am finally going to watch the remake of It tonight, I just finished reading It yesterday and I am excited to see how it adapts into a movie. I don’t think it’s going to be something that really scares me but we will see.

I’m also very happy about the fact that I get to go pick up Kingdom of Ash today, I finally got paid and I get to get it, I have been waiting for this for so long (its only been a week but it feels longer!) I’m anxious to see how this series ends.\

Lets get into my reading week!

Legend

I’m a big fan of Marie Lu, I don’t think that’s a surprise to anyone, Legend has a fantastic set of characters. June and Day are so precious and are characters that have really stuck with me even though I read this twoish years ago.

A Little Princess

A childhood favorite, I must have checked this out from the library a dozen times at least when I was a child. I reread this a few years ago and loved it just as much as I did since childhood.

The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet

This is such a delightful space opera!

Lord of Shadows

What can I even say about this?! Other than the fact that I am dying from having to wait for Queen of Air and Darkness! I don’t know what it is about Cassandra Clares writing but while I enjoyed The Mortal Instruments, I really loved the Infernal Devices, yet The Dark Artifact series may be my favorite yet. Every time I read one of her books my expectation level rises and somehow she not only reaches it but surpasses it!

What did you recently finish reading?

I read so many books over the last week. I talked about most of these in my readathon wrap up so I’m not going to repeat myself here, just seems really redundant at this point.

Emma
by Jane Austen

Overall, I did not care for Emma, it was not my favorite Austen story. It was just slow and I couldn’t stand most of the characters.

Ungodly
by Kendare Blake

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding
by Alexandra Bracken

Sea Witch
by Sarah Henning

Darth Vader, Poison Ivy Cycle of Life and Death, Spider Gwen Most Wanted

Atheists Who Kneel and Pray
by Tarryn Fisher

I adored this, however, it put me in a very angsty mood, I was feeling super emo while reading this.

Little Monsters
by Kara Thomas

Okay, I really liked this, I would sit down and just devour 80 pages or so in a sitting. There were things that really frustrated me about it (like lack of communication and also the trope that comes up in thrillers all the time about the main character being in the spotlight and everyone suspecting them based off of circumstantial evidence at best) but overall this was a pretty solid read.

What are you currently reading?

It
by Stephen King

Still reading this nice and slowly. I am loving the way he writes. I kinda just want to finish it and find out what happens.

Daughter of a Burning City
by Amanda Foody

I don’t know how I feel about this yet, I am 63 pages in and kind of bored. Even though things are happening, I’m still bored. This is my audiobook right now so I’m going to get to the halfway point and see how things go, maybe it’ll hook me.

Hocus Pocus
by AW Jantha

I plan on starting this today and I’m a little nervous, I hadn’t heard anything about this but when I went to add it on Goodreads I saw a lot of low ratings so now I’m nervous.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Trial by Fire
by Josephine Angelini

I’ve had this on my tbr for a couple years now and I want to read this now since its getting close to Halloween.

The Archived
by Victoria Schwab

same reason as above I’ve had this for a couple years now and I’m hoping to get to it and its sequel before Halloween

Deweys 24 Hour Readathon Wrap Up

deweylogo-400x335

I had such a great time during the readathon and I already can’t wait for the next one! I was able to read a lot and I’m very satisfied with the amount I read. I made it to hour 19 (11 p.m.) before I threw the towel in and went to bed, that’s the only thing that I’m bummed about, I wanted to make it to Midnight and I just couldn’t go for another hour.

Books read:

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding
by Alexandra Bracken

I enjoyed this but it didn’t blow me away, I loved the characters and thought that they were hilarious, especially Alastor, he was making me laugh so much.

Sea Witch
by Sarah Henning

I enjoyed this a lot, it was so dark and the mystery unfolded at a great pace.

238 pages of Ungodly by Kendare Blake

I am so happy this is over, this wasn’t bad but I just hated one of the main characters, Cassandra was just the worst and she was so frustrating to deal with.

Poison Ivy Cycle of Life and Death

I loved this so much and I am so sad that it seems to just be a standalone! The art in this is just gorgeous and I want to thank the artists for making Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn look like real women, not cartoon pin-ups.

Darth Vader: volume 1 Vader

I love Darth Vader, he’s one of my all-time favorite characters and this comic has amazing artwork and a good storyline, highly recommend.

Spider Gwen volume 0 Most Wanted

I was disappointed that I didn’t like this but I love the art! I may continue the series just for more of the bright vivid colors. The color palette for this graphic novel is my favorite. Unfortunately, the story is very dull and I was just bored throughout it.

My total page count was 1384 pages!
I am so immensely proud of myself

Kiss of Deception

I enjoyed this so much! I loved all the characters and I loved the story so much.

The Kings Traitor

This was a very enjoyable trilogy, it’s a King Arthur retelling prequel and it’s delightful! All of the characters are so drawn out and feel so real. Kate Rudd narrates the audiobooks and she does an amazing job.

Deweys 24 hour readathon TBR

deweylogo-400x335

I love the Deweys 24 hour readathon! I’ve talked about Dewey’s readathon before a couple of times, I even wrote a blog post about why I like readathons. So I thought I would share my TBR and see if anyone else is planning on participating. I’ve had my TBR planned for a little while, nothing too set in stone but I kind of intended to read some of these during the readathon.

Mortal Gods

It
by Stephen King

I hit page 680 today, things are about to come together, I don’t want to say that the cavalry is coming but what would be the opposite? If the cavalry is the group that comes to kick ass, this would be the group that going to screw everything up. At least I think so, that’s how I see it unfolding.

Emma
by Jane Austen

I’m having a hard time getting into Emma, to be honest, it just hasn’t hooked me in the same way her other books have. I almost feel like the beginning is being stretched out.

Ungodly
by Kendare Blake

I’ve been enjoying this trilogy so much, it’s not blowing me away but its fun in this dark-everyone-is-dying kind of way.

What do you think you’ll read next?

After Emma, my next audiobook is probably going to be Atheists Who Kneel and Pray by Tarryn Fisher. As for my next physical book, I’m hoping to read Girl on the Train before the Deweys 24 Hr Readathon.

Top Ten Tuesday 10/9: Longest Books I’ve Ever Read

ttt

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

October 9: Longest Books I’ve Ever Read

While I like to say that I like big books, I don’t like being in the middle of a book for more than a couple of days. For some reason it makes me feel like I’m not enjoying the book enough because it’s taking me a week to read but it’s over 700 pages. I hope you understand what I mean. Here are some of my favorite big books.

A Dance with Dragons (1,016 pages)
Voyager (870 pages)
It (Currently reading so I’m counting it, It has 1,156 pages)
The Name of the Wind (662 pages)

Mistborn (672 pages)
Anna Karenina (803 pages)
Lady Midnight (720 pages)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (766 pages)

The Pillars of the Earth (973 pages)
Winter (827 pages)
