12 Autumn Moments

I’ve been trying to read a lot this past week since I have a mountainous tbr for July and I’m doing alright but I’m getting easily distracted by a desire to play Assassins Creed Odyssey. I think it might be one of my favorite video games ever and I just want to spend all my free time playing it. Unfortunately, that’s not a good attitude to have during a readathon.

12 Autumn Moments

It has been a week. I’ve been doing so much gardening but I’m finally at a point where I have nothing left to re-pot, nothing left to plant, nothing to dig up…just maintenance and weeding. Nothing but respect to anyone who does landscaping for a living, I was in my yard for 4 hours and all I could think about was food and a nap, it was exhausting. I am super happy with how my yard is looking, if everything takes I’ll have lots of vegetables and strawberries to eat, tons of herbs, roses and peony’s, and a bee garden for my bee house.

I’m tired just thinking about everything lol. Despite all my yard work I was able to read a few books so lets get into that.

I am so out of it this week, I feel permanently tired no matter how much sleep I get. I remember in high school I always joked about wanting to drag around an IV filled with coffee.

How has your week been going? Washington has been in the 70s lately and I am loving all the sun. I went to Long Beach over the weekend and I got to bottle feed a baby goat! I think that was one of the happiest moments of my life.

12 Autumn Moments

Good Morning!

I’m very excited about the books I have to talk about this week. I still haven’t been reading a lot. I find myself to currently be addicted to Skyrim, its so bad, its all I want to do right now with my free time. I’m not interested in any shows or reading, I just want to play more Skyrim. It took me so long to get into because it has a huge learning curve (at least it did for me,) but when I’m at work I find myself thinking about this damn game or taking a few minutes to laugh at Skyrim memes. I haven’t been this into a game since I played Dragon Age.

I did take enough of a break from the game to go see Captain Marvel which I loved so much, it did meet most of my expectations, and I loved Brie Larson’s performance.

Anyways let’s talk books

What did you recently finish reading?

The Winter of the Witch
by Katherine Arden

I loved this and thought it was a well-done finale to a beautiful trilogy.

The Kingdom of Cooper
by S.A. Chakraborty

This was a delightful sequel, it was nice and action-packed, it kept me pretty glued to the pages.

That Month in Tuscany
by Inglath Cooper

I was so incredibly disappointed by this, despite having several tropes that I liked, the characters were all garbage and it ruined the book for me.

What are you currently reading?

The Fiery Cross
by Diana Gabaldon

This has such a slow start to it, I had expected it to be like Drums of Autumn where I was hooked to it but with this, I’m just patiently waiting for the plot to pick up.

The Warrior Heir
by Cinda Williams Chima

So far, I’m feeling confused and a little let down by this, I kinda wish I had just started the Demon King instead of this. I am only 65 pages into it so Im thinking I’ll give it to page 100 and see how I feel about it then.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Next Year In Havana
by Chanel Cleeton

I can’t stop thinking about this book so it’s going to be the next one I read.

A Breathe of Snow and Ashes
by Diana Gabaldon

This will be my next audiobook and Ill keep progressing towards my Outlander goal.

I haven’t been reading much (that seems to be the new usual catchphrase for me). I did spend quite a bit of my weekend watching Avatar the Last Airbender. My bf has never seen it before so I’m making him watch it, we just finished season 1 last night and I am so excited to start season 2 and see my favorite character again. Rewatching this series has been so much fun and as a kid, I didn’t realize how sarcastic the show is, as an adult I’m very much enjoying the sarcasm and sass all of the characters have.

Also, I got to go over to my cousin’s house to see his new cat, I was so excited to meet this cat and the cat hated me. That was a bit heartbreaking.

Today is my moms birthday!
I don’t know if she reads this at all but this birthday wish will be immortalized via this post. Happy Birthday, Mom!

Like I talked about in my post yesterday, I’ve been watching a lot of TV and not reading as much, so I only finished two books in the last week. I’m kinda missing my posts where I would read 4 books or so in the last week and I would have more to talk about.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Wicked King
by Holly Black

My feelings for this kind of went up and down as the story went along, I ultimately gave this 4 out of 5 stars but I feel like there were several things that just happened and I wasn’t even sure on how we got to that point, the same thing with the ending. All that said I am anxious for book 3.

The Dead Queens Club
by Hannah Capin

I am super happy about this, its described as the Tudors meets Mean Girls and I loved everything about it. There were so many canon references and they felt natural in the story. The writing was a little bit slow at times but for the most part, I would sit down and read 80 pages like they were nothing.

Slayer
by Kiersten White

I’m really enjoying this far but I also feel like I’m missing background information that I should already know.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I was going to start the fiery cross to get my Outlander on but I kinda really want to reread Pride and Prejudice and also read my last Jane Austen novel, Mansfield Park. I will probably do that instead lol. P.s. Mansfield Park has the most underwhelming covers ever. Why do classic book covers have to be so boring?

I’m also trying to talk my boyfriend into watching Pride and Prejudice on Valentines Day because he doesn’t know who Mr. Darcy is and that is a tragedy! Its beginning to look a lot like a Jane Austen week…

This is has been a bit of a weird week for me, I just feel off and don’t really feel like myself. Hopefully, it passes soon but I’m in this weird limbo between tired and restless. How is it even possible to feel like this?

I’m so over winter and ready for spring to get here. I spent some time yesterday looking at flowers to plant in my yard and figuring out what kind of vegetables I would like to grow, I also just want to stop feeling cold all the time, I can’t even enjoy the idea of snuggling up in blankets to read because I’m so tired I fall asleep almost immediately.

I’ve been slacking on reading for the last couple of days, I’m still not quite recovered from my reading slump, but I’m making progress. I did start watching Brooklyn 99 and have been really enjoying that, I’m about halfway through season 2 right now. Terry and Rosa are my absolute favorites, both of them make me laugh so much.

I also started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I’ve always been a huge fan of Buffy but it’s been years since I’ve watched any of it. I had forgotten how nineties the first season is with the special effects and action scenes, but I’m also really enjoying my rewatch. I had also forgotten how much I hated Xander, he is the worst!
