Mid Year Freak Out Tag

I love this tag, I wasn’t even tagged to do this, but I love this as a small check in on my reading has been going. I also plan to do a follow up post on my reading goals because those are actually decent and no one is more shocked about that then me.

Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2019

The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin

I have no words that are adequate for this book, I already want to reread it and I need to continue on with the trilogy because I know its going to get better and better.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2019

So far I think Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson is my choice, its hard to believe that this series has only gotten better.

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To

Courting Darkness by Robin LaFevers

I want to read this so badly but for some reason im a little intimidated by the length, Im also nervous to start it in case it doesnt live up to the memory I have for the His Fair Assassin trilogy.

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year

Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff, I am dying to know what happens next

Biggest Disappointment

That Month in Tuscany

I was really looking forward to this, I loved so many tropes that were mentioned but everything fell flat. I hated all of the characters.

Biggest Surprise

Where the Crawdads Sing

This book wasn’t on my radar at all, I had even read the synopsis and thought “it sounds alright but I’m not sure if its for me,” but then a coworker recommended it to me and I trust his opinion so I read it and ended up loving it.

Favorite New Author

Theodora Goss

Newest Fictional Crush

I don’t often develop new crushes on characters

Newest Favorite Character

Kya from Where the Crawdads Sing, I adored this girl and her connection to the marsh.

Book That Made You Cry

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker

I was crying so much at the end of this, it broke my heart and all I could do was sit and sob.

Book That Made You Laugh

William Shakespeare’s Star Wars: Verily, A New Hope by Ian Doescher

This was so much fun to read and to experience the story of Star Wars in a unique way.

Favorite Book-to-Film Adaptation

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

This was an unexpected surprise for me, I was reluctant to start this but I wanted to watch the show very badly. Once I started it though I couldn’t stop.

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought This Year

European Travel for the Monstrous Gentlewoman by Theodora Goss

I love that cover! I love the bold lines and the colors used, I cant wait to get to it.

What book do you need to read by the end of the year?

Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

I cant wait to read this!
