Four Book to Movie Adaptations I’m Excited About

Book to movie

I’m seeing Captain Marvel tonight and I am so excited. Since I’m going out to a movie today I thought it would be appropriate timing to talk about some book to movie adaptations that I’m excited for. Lately, I’ve been pretty picky about the movies I go see, I typically go to the superhero movies or see book adaptations with the occasional animated movie thrown in.

There weren’t many movies that jumped out at me when I googled for ideas but these four descriptions had me the most excited.

The Sun is Also a Star
release date: May 17, 2019

I’ll admit that I’m a bit nervous about this movie. The number one thing that I really loved about the book was the way it was set up, it would take a few pages to tell a little bit of the story about a minor character that Daniel and Natasha had interacted with. I really loved seeing that and I’m not sure how or if that’s going to transfer over to the movie. I’m also really hoping for a lot of amazing quotes to be added in.

It: Chapter 2
release date: September 6, 2019

I AM SO STOKED FOR THIS. Chapter 1 was fantastic and I NEVER thought that I would actually say that but I enjoyed it so much, the filming aesthetic was everything that I wanted but wasn’t expecting. I am curious to see if there are going to be childhood flashbacks and I really hope so because I loved those children.

Little Women
release date: December 25, 2019

Little Women is a book that I’ve been wanting to read for so long but I just haven’t gotten to it. I definitely plan on reading it this year because Emma Watson as Meg? I’m in.

The Watchmen (HBO Series)
release date: 2019

Its been quite a few years since I’ve seen the movie, I don’t remember a lot of the details but I remember loving (most) the characters. I loved Silk Spectre II, Dr. Manhattan, and Rorschach. I really loved the movie and I felt like Zack Snyder didn’t hold back with how dark the story is and I think HBO is going to do the same thing, I imagine that this reboot is going to be dark and I honestly can’t wait.

What are some movies you’re looking forward to this year?
