WWW Wednesdays

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words. Simply answer the following questions:

What did you recently finish reading?

What are you currently reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

Its finally happened.
I finally burnt out and while it’s not as brutal as I thought it would be, it still sucks. I don’t like feeling this way and I’m not sure what to do to help myself recharge. Despite that, I have read a couple of books that I loved so I’ll get into that now.

What did you recently finish reading?

The Girl in the Tower
by Katherine Arden

I think I liked this a lot more than book 1, I loved the Moscow setting and seeing Vasya gain confidence in what she does, I loved the interactions with her siblings and all of the stakes felt real. I also love the atmosphere in this book and I fully believe that winter is the ideal time to read this series.

In An Absent Dream
by Seanan McGuire

I’ve been a big fan of the Wayward Children series and this one might just be my number one favorite. I loved all of the characters and the goblin market setting, I couldn’t get enough of this story and I just wish there had more.

What are you currently reading?

Queen of Air and Darkness
by Cassandra Clare

That gif of Ariel is entirely how I feel about this, which is such a bummer because I loved Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows and I was eagerly awaiting this. Alas, when I started this back in December I found that I was really struggling with it. I’m currently 330 pages into it and I’m gonna try to pick it back up. I don’t know why I wasn’t that into it, maybe because I was stressed about completing my Goodreads goal.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I think this is where my burn out is really showing because I have this big long list of books I want to read and I want to read them all right now!
I still have yet to read Skyward, Vengeful, Dance of Thieves, What if Its Us and on top of those I also want to read Drums of Autumn and I just got the Wicked King and Winter of the Witch.
I just can’t quite decide and I’m feeling beyond overwhelmed and kind of anxious about all of this.

Again, I don’t really know how to handle this, this isn’t the first time I’ve ever felt like this but every time it happens I just don’t know what to do.

What do you do when you’re in a reading slump and overwhelmed?

  1. You’ve just reminded me I need to read the Bear and the Nightingale! And I’m sorry to hear that QOAAD isn’t going along as smoothly as you’d anticipated. It’s such a huge book haha. But I completely get that it might not be on the same level as the previous books. For me, there was a little something missing that was present in the first two books, but I’m not entirely sure what that something is…I hope you manage to get through it though soon! 😀 Happy reading!
