This list was a little difficult for me to put together, I think it’s because I was trying to catch up or finish series so I didn’t read a lot of new authors. I also don’t count debut authors because to me they aren’t really new to me authors, they’re new to everyone authors. So when I put this list together, I think of the hidden gems or the “I Finally Read This” groups.
I finally read the Book Thief! This book was on my TBR for years and I don’t have a solid reason on why I never picked it up, I just didn’t, and this year I finally read it and it did not let me down.
I read Scythe and Thunderhead earlier this year and really enjoyed them, I had wanted to read Challenger Deep by Neal for a couple years now but I just haven’t been able to get a copy of it yet, however the summary for Scythe intrigued me right away.
I finally read the Name of the Wind and The Wise Mans Fear! I had both of these sitting on my shelf for a few years now and after completing A Song of Ice and Fire I was ready for another big fantasy book and knew it was time to get into The Name of the Wind.
Another scenario where I’ve had the entire trilogy sitting on my bookshelf for a couple years and I was just so intimidated by the length but I don’t know what my problem was because I loved everything about this trilogy and I’m kicking myself for not picking it up sooner.
earlier this year I read Anna Karenina for Tome Topple, I had been wanting to read this ever since I first started watching Gilmore Girls 13 years ago, Anna Karenina is Rory Gilmore’s favorite book so this year I finally read it and God I hated it. There really wasn’t a whole about this story that I liked.
I read the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and while it was delightful, I didn’t fully love it. I adore Marvin with my entire heart, hes so melancholy and sarcastic, hes everything I am and love, hes my favorite character and the reason why I’ll continue on.
A couple of my close friends really love this author and her Lords of the Underworld series so I finally picked up the Darkest Kiss, and why? This admittedly took me a while to get into and both of them said that the series does get better and Maddox’s story is a rough start, so I’m going to give book 2 a chance and go from there.
Finally a positive new to me author, I adore this writing duo, I loved both Autoboyography and Josh and Hazels Guide to Not Dating, they are so sweet and so funny, I cant wait to read more by this duo.
I wasn’t sure about Sadie when I first picked it up but eventually the hype wore me down and I picked it up earlier this month, and I really enjoyed it. I enjoying her writing and how dark the story ended up being. If I’m ever in the mood for a thriller again Ill be turning towards Courtney Summers.
